On April 19, Prof. Jie Tang, a member of the Academic Committee of SAIFS and a WeBank Chair Professor at the Department of Computer Science from Tsinghua University, along with GLM team members Dr. Peng Zhang, the CEO of Zhipu AI, and Prof. Hongning Wang, a tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, visited Shanghai AI-Finance School and the School of Economics and Management at ECNU. The Dean of the SAIFS, Prof. Yilei Shao, the Assistant to the Dean, Prof. Aocheng Tang, and members of the administrative leadership of the School of Economics and Management warmly welcomed them and expressed that they would like to engage in future research projects and educational collaborations with the GLM team.

In the morning, Prof. Hongning Wang delivered a keynote speech titled "The Exploration and the Pilot Projects of AI Assistant in Education" at the faculty meeting of the School of Economics and Management. The speech aimed to advance the digitalization of education and explore the deep integration of AI with teaching and learning.

Firstly, he briefly introduced the background and development process of generative AI technology in recent years. With the advent of the intelligent era, AI is becoming a competitive field among top global universities. In his speech, Prof. Wang showcased the latest applications of AI in education, focusing on how AI technology enhances teaching quality, helps teachers better understand student needs, and provides more personalized teaching support.
In the afternoon, Prof. Jie Tang presented a report titled "Reflections on Large Language Models to the AGI" at the study meeting of ECNU’s theoretical learning center.

In his report, Prof. Tang delved into the significant progress of large language models in the AI field and their implications for future technology. With the rapid development of the intelligent era, some large language models like ChatGLM have achieved remarkable success in tasks such as natural language understanding, text generation, image processing, and multi-modal modeling. He reviewed the developmental history of AI over the past decades and shared the challenges and achievements encountered during the construction of the domestically produced conversational large model ChatGLM. He emphasized the potential opportunities and challenges of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and mentioned that despite encouraging technological advancements, achieving AGI still faces uncertain technical and ethical challenges.
After the meeting, the GLM team’s members engaged in in-depth discussions with the leadership of the SAIFS and the School of Economics and Management regarding future collaboration on research and educational projects.
