For now, AI enters finance incrementally: the model augments human judgment, and accountability remains firmly human-in-the-loop. This talk treats that as the near end of a spectrum rather than a stable equilibrium. The shift fromagent-assisted toagent-native finance is gradual — agents progressively initiate, negotiate, clear, and are themselves audited, and decision rights migrate one workflow at a time. Drawing on a production reasoning-model deployment in a live credit pipeline at a major commercial bank (~1,000 credit officers), the talk reports failure modes that standard benchmarks do not surface: distribution drift under reflexive feedback, reasoning traces that are plausible but not faithful, and the slow blurring of where decision rights and liability sit.

The central claim is that the binding constraint on this transition is not capability but verifiability. The argument develops through three problems that map directly onto current AI research: formally certifying that a reasoning trace is faithful rather than reconstructed after the fact; bounding error propagation when one agent’s output feeds another’s irreversible decision; and evaluating agents in non-stationary environments their own actions reshape.

3、About PAKDD and the AI4DF Sub-Conference

PAKDD (the Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining) is a top-tier academic conference renowned for its high academic authority and stringent paper acceptance standards. The AI4DF Sub-Conference (AI and Data Science for Digital Finance) gathers academic researchers, industry practitioners, specialists and policymakers engaged in the R&D and industrial implementation of artificial intelligence and data science for digital finance. It aims to facilitate interdisciplinary exchanges on how relevant technologies transform traditional banking, payment systems and asset management, as well as forge brand-new development paradigms for decentralized finance and digital currencies. The theme of this year’s AI4DF Sub-Conference reads AI and Data Science Empowering Digital Finance: Transforming Markets, Assets and Inclusive Finance. The sub-conference has invited world-renowned scholars from the University of Amsterdam, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Duke Kunshan University, Tongji University and other institutions, who will join Professor Yilei Shao to present cutting-edge research outcomes and academic insights.
