The establishment of the SAIFS Research Center at ECNU
aims at facilitating the "Technology-Industry-Finance" cycle
to create a new frontier
for the integrated development of AI and the financial industry.
The establishment not only signifies a new level of "district-university collaboration" and enhanced industrial transformation capabilities, but it is also a crucial step by East China Normal University to boost the rapid growth of AI and finance industries in Xuhui District.
The inauguration ceremony of the "Shanghai Generative AI Innovation Ecosystem Pilot Zone"
On the morning of October 12, the "Model Speed Space" anniversary event and the inauguration ceremony of the "Shanghai Generative AI Innovation Ecosystem Pilot Zone" were held at the“Model Speed Space” in Xuhui’s West Bund.
Mr. Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Zhuang Mudi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, Mr. Cao Liqiang, Party Secretary of Xuhui District, Mr. Wang Hua, Deputy Party Secretary and District Chief of Xuhui, Mr. Rong Zhiqin, Deputy Director and First-Class Inspector of the Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Mr. Yuan Guohua, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd. attended the ceremony. Relevant colleagues from the Municipal Cyberspace Administration Office and other departments, as well as from Xuhui’s government, also attended. Prof. Meng Zhongjie, Vice Chair of the University Council at ECNU, was invited to attend the event.
During the ceremony, Mr. Chen Jie, Mr. Zhuang Mudi, Mr. Cao Liqiang, Mr. Rong Zhiqin, and Mr. Yuan Guohua jointly unveiled the "Shanghai Generative AI Innovation Ecosystem Pilot Zone". The event also showcased the one-year development achievements of “Model Speed Space” and presented the vision for constructing the “Shanghai Generative AI Innovation Ecosystem Pilot Zone”.

7 major cooperation projects, including ECNU's "SAIFS Research Center", were officially launched.
As one of the major cooperation projects of large language models in Xuhui, the SAIFS Research Center and Innovation Center at ECNU was formally announced to be launched in Xuhui. Prof. Meng Zhongjie represented ECNU to initiate the project.

In addition, Shanghai’s Municipal Cyberspace Administration Office and other relevant departments jointly released the first batch of 22 vertical domain LLM’s demonstration scenarios in Shanghai. Following that, Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd. and Xuhui District jointly inaugurated the Shanghai AI Ecosystem Fund. They also initiated strategic cooperation with representatives from 10 companies, including Minimax. The Shanghai AI Ecosystem Fund, led by Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd. is jointly established with state-owned capital platforms such as Xuhui Capital, Lingang Holdings, and Caohejing Corporation, as well as companies like miHoYo, SenseTime, and Bilibili. The fund reaches 10 billion Chinese Yuan, focusing on key areas within the LLM’s ecosystem, investing in three main segments: AI infrastructure, foundational and vertical domain LLMs, and next-generation AI applications.

Prof. Shao Yilei, Dean of SAIFS at ECNU, mentioned that through tight collaboration with partners such as the Agricultural Bank of China, the Research Center will focus on building a trusted financial vertical domain LLMs with independent intellectual property rights. It will also develop three AI-finance innovation demonstration scenarios, establish LLM’s financial corpus, and ensure a high-quality supply of financial data. The center will also strengthen the construction of fintech infrastructure. Additionally, the center will launch an Innovation Center to promote the implementation and dissemination of AI-Finance technology, accelerate the commercialization of AI-Fin technology, inject new momentum into financial technology innovation, and support the enhancement and upgrading of Shanghai as an international financial center.
The distinguished guests attending the event included Mr. Zhai Ji, Deputy Head of the Shanghai Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China, Mrs. Wang Yilin, Deputy General Manager of the Institutional Business Department of the Shanghai Branch, Mr. Huang Xiao, Head of the Xuhui Sub-branch, and Mrs.Xiong Shenzhan, Director of the Science and Technology Department at ECNU.
